(CHICAGO – August 10, 2006) – Harrington College of Design was honored by Project Osmosis at a fundraiser held July 14 2006 at the Little Black Pearl Art and Design Center at 1060 East 47 Street in Chicago, Illinois.

The Project Osmosis Education and Mentoring Initiative (Osmosis) is a non-profit organization that provides art and design mentoring programs for Chicago’s inner city youth. Osmosis exposes young people of color to the career opportunities in design and encourages them to follow positive career paths in art and design.

"Our programs would not exist without the support of institutions like Harrington College of Design," said Gwen Williams, education director for Project Osmosis and a Harrington graduate.

"At Harrington, we value community, intellectual curiosity, creativity, and diversity," stated Sue Kirkman, Harrington vice president of academics/dean of education, who accepted the award on behalf of the college. "It is an honor to be acknowledged among the Project’s community of supporters."

Osmosis also honored Afiya Adams, AHA Designs; The Richard and Jean Coyne Family Foundation; Bill Rattner, Lawyers for the Creative Arts; Arystine Danner, Chicago Public Libraries; Dave Walker, RTKL Associates, Inc; and Osmosis founder, Erik Bailey.
