Harrington College of Design Awards $20,000 in Scholarships to Soon-to-be Interior Designers, Photographers and Graphic Designers
Four high school seniors were awarded $5,000 scholarships toward their education at Harrington College of Design

CHICAGO (June 6, 2008) – High school seniors that have applied to Harrington College of Design were recently given the opportunity to present a sample of their creative work at the High School Casting Call; an event the school runs every year in the spring. In order to be eligible for the $5,000 scholarship each student was required to submit two letters of recommendation and give a two minute presentation on their work. All of the winners have accepted the scholarship and are expected to attend the school this year.

“The enthusiasm exhibited by the applicants was inspiring, encouraging and contagious” said Dirk Fletcher, the Department Chair of Digital Photography at Harrington.

Forty-eight aspiring designers and photographers presented their work to three faculty members of Harrington College of Design; Communication Design Department Chair Brad Kisner, interior design instructor Constantine Vasilios, and Dirk Fletcher.

“Students stood out in photography, communication design and interior design alike; it was great to see and tough to judge. In regards to the winning students we saw creativity as well as expert craftsmanship in the projects that were presented to this panel” stated Fletcher. He also saw the event as an insight to how high schools are preparing students for future education in the arts. “Judging this competition was a peek into the arts curriculums of our high schools.”

The following students were honored for their artistic abilities:
Ann Erskine of Lake Zurich High School
Crystal Collado of Glennbrook South High School
Michelle Farnsworth of Crown Point High School
Zoraida Bartolomei of Steinmetz Academic Centre
